If you're still to visit the Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh this month would be the perfect time to do so. From the iconic pieces of Scottish art spanning over three centuries, the beautiful architecture, and of course the current A Taste for Impressionism exhibition, it's easy to spend a full afternoon getting lost in the galleries.
If you want to make your visit extra special, we suggest popping down on Wednesday 21st September when you will be treated to a special lecture about Scottish artist Anne Redpath (1895-1965) from SWARN member Alice Strang for the Edinburgh Decorative and Fine Art Society (EDFAS), sponsored by Lyon & Turnbull.

Redpath was one of the first female painters to be elected to full membership of the Royal Scottish Academy and is renowned for her vividly coloured interior and still-life compositions. This talk will be a celebration of her life and work and place her in the context of post-World War Two Scottish painting.
The reception will take place from 6.30 in the Scottish Cafe at the Scottish National Gallery, with the lecture itself beginning at 7pm in the Hawthornden Lecture Theatre. Tickets cost £25 and all proceeds will go towards the EDFAS education programme. Further information and the link to book tickets can be found on eventbrite.
