EVENTS | "REVISITING THE LIFE OF PHEOBE TRAQUAIR" WITH ELIZABETH CUMMING

To mark the 2022 publication of the National Galleries of Scotland's new study on Pheobe Anna Traquair, the Scottish Society for Art History are celebrating with an illustrated talk by the book's author, Elizabeth Cumming.

Traquair was one of the leading figures of the British Arts and Crafts Movement and this richly illustrated publication will provide fresh analysis on her work. Elizabeth Cumming is an Honorary Professor in the history of art at the University of Edinburgh. Elizabeth became aware of Phoebe Anna Traquair some forty years ago when curator of the Edinburgh city art collection which includes The Salvation of Mankind embroidered triptych. In her spare time she began to catalogue the artist’s work which led to a doctorate and curation of the 1993 exhibition of Traquair’s art for the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.

Tickets are £2-4 and can be purchased from Eventbrite via the link. The talk beings at 7pm on Wednesday 19th April, 2023.

The book itself can be purchased from the National Galleries Scotland website.
