LECTURES | "MEDIEVAL MYTHS & LEGENDS" HUNTERIAN FRIDAY FOCUS TALK

Updated: 5 days ago

This week the Hunterian's Friday Focus talk focuses on their latest rotation of works on paper, which includes a fascinating group of drawings, prints and photographs on medieval themes.

Among the artists represented are Jessie M. King & Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh.

Joseph Sharples, The Hunterian’s Mackintosh Curator, will explore how and why these artists were attracted to the Middle Ages, a world utterly different from the secular, industrial society of the 19th and early 20th centuries in which they lived. Was it simply a question of escapism, or was it something more?

This free event is online via zoom at 1pm, Friday 20th February 2026 and is expected to last half an hour. Click here for the link to tickets!
