Join Curator Hildegarde Berwick for what promises to be a fascinating evening as she shares her research on Bet Low.
City Streets, Scottish Islands and Silhouetted Hills: Bet Low (1924-2007) Art and Lifeexplores will explore the life and work of artist Bet Low in her centenary year. Best known for her tranquil landscapes of Scotland, Low was born in Gourock and studied at Glasgow School of Art. Low was the recipient of many awards and in 1999 was awarded the distinction of Doctor of Letters from the University of Glasgow. The talk will be accompanied by a pop-up display of items from the papers of Bet Low, held at the University of Glasgow Library Archives and Special Collections.
The talk will be held in person at 7pm in the Seminar Room, Level 12 of the University of Glasgow Library, Thursday 22nd February 2024.
