The Scottish Gallery are commemorating the life of painter and printmaker Dame Elizabeth Blackadder (1931-2021) with a series of events this year.
Blackadder, who passed away in 2021, was a prolific painter and printmaker in the Scottish contemporary art scene, with a wide-ranging output from still lifes, to landscape, to depictions of cats. To commemorate her life's work, a rerelease of Duncan Macmillan's 1999 monograph will be published by the Scottish Gallery. The book is to be released in August and can be pre-ordered from the Scottish Gallery's website.
Not only that, a new exhibition 'Dame Elizabeth Blackadder: A Celebration' is set to open on 27th July, running until 26 August, 2023.
To celebrate both of these exciting events, a book launch will be held for those who have pre-ordered the monograph. Furthermore, a new film shining a light on Blackadder's studio practice and artistry has been released by the Scottish Gallery, produced by the Edinburgh Film Company.
