To mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of John Duncan Fergusson (1874-1961) and the opening of the permanent exhibition Fergus and Meg: A Creative Partnership at Perth Art Gallery, Culture Perth & Kinross and the Scottish Society for Art History are holding a symposium about Fergusson’s work and legacy.
SWARN members Alice Strang and Amy Fairley will be giving talks on the prominent women in Fergusson's life including Margaret Morris and Anne Estelle Rice.
The keynote speaker will be Roger Billcliffe, Chair of the J.D. Fergusson Art Foundation. He will be joined by:
- Sarah Bromage and Fiona Clasen from University of Stirling;
- Anne Dulau from the Hunterian Art Gallery, University of Glasgow;
- Richard Emerson on Fergusson’s role in Margaret Morris’s Summer Schools;
- Amy Fairley, Curator of Fergus and Meg;
- Susan Moore on Fergusson’s relationship with Anne Estelle Rice;
- Alice Strang, Curator of the National Galleries of Scotland Fergusson retrospective exhibition.
